Peter Park is an artist based in York, whose background as a lecturer in textile design and drawing at the University in Manchester, and as a home furnishings designer at Courtauld Textiles, informs the composition of many of his works. Peter's still life works in particular share this strong connection with his work in textiles, as he considers how the image relates to the space created by the edge of the canvas.
Peter's works are inspired by scenes of domestic life, an interest in botany, as well as the wild and majestic Yorkshire landscape. He paints in an expressive and gestural way, combining his interest in colour combinations with juxtapositions of form and line creating a response to the subject as a partly abstract expression.
